2024 Edition

The 2024 edition of Belle Èpoque Lake Como was held on 9 June 2024 in Colico in Piazza Garibaldi.

The event, now in its second edition, was sponsored by the Municipality of Colico and the Province of Lecco who understood the potential and strong appeal that an event like this has on users of the lakeside. The thanks of the organization and of the entire Valtellina Veteran Car also go to the Proloco of Colico with the guys from the Infopoint, who actively collaborated to ensure that the event was a success.

This year the day organized by the Valtellina Veteran Car has been included in the FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) calendar of events.

Although the weather conditions were not promising, from the early morning of Sunday Piazza Garibaldi began to come alive: two, three and four wheel vehicles, music and the colors of the clothes cheered up the lake shore.

The event took place as scheduled, first in its exhibition part in the square, animated by the notes of the “Manoucherie” musical group and the elegant parade of the “Le Ferruccine” group, where the public was able to admire the vehicles and be photographed with the participants in period clothing.

The day then continued with a parade of cars, motorbikes, Lambrettas and, new this year, bicycles through the streets of the town, ending with their passage in front of the jury. This year the jury was able to make use of the judgment of Alessandro (Ciro) De Petri, an important Italian motorcycle driver specialized in rally raids. In his palmares there are three victories in the Pharaohs Rally, two Tunisian Rallies, a third place in the Dakar as well as countless victories in other competitions.

After lunch, the event ended with the awards ceremony, which took place inside the Colico auditorium, kindly granted by local institutions in case of bad weather. There was a nice interlude in which a Lambretta equipped as an ice cream shop, participating in the event, dispensed cups of ice cream to those in attendance.

One of the innovations introduced this year was the choice, as the “Premio Laghee” , of a work created specifically for the event by Katia Mercurio (km_motoringartist on Instagram) [] , an artist known in the world of motoring for her hyper-realistic pencil drawings connected to the world of vintage vehicles. The Laghee Prize was won by Bruno Strigini with his Lambretta Gelateria.

The quality of the historic vehicles participating in the event, this year too, was very high. The public was able to observe centenary motorbikes, vehicles built in very limited editions and very few examples of which have survived the test of time. The request to participate in the event in period clothing caused a certain excitement, especially among the ladies, who went in search of real vintage gems for themselves and their companions, sparking a fun competition on the theme of elegance.

A special thank you to everyone who worked to make this day a success, to those who loaded their vehicles despite the forecast of rain, to those who braved the weather by arriving by motorbike. Thanks also to the sponsors who believed in the project and supported us.

If you were with us, thank you. If you are reading this and were not there we hope to have you with us next year.
